Things You Might Not Know About the CutterPillar Glass Mat
First, the Glass Mat Origin Story
There's an uncomfortable personal story our Head of Product, Jack, relives each time he shares how he was inspired to develop our translucent Glass Mat.
One time his crafty wife, Marin, borrowed the ironing board to fuse some applique. Unbeknownst to her, in the process, some glue spilled onto the board.
Fast forward a week or two and that glue was "re-animated" by the iron...right onto Jack's dress shirt when he ironed it for an event.
The stain, as annoying and destructive as it was, appears to have actually changed the world for the better. It flipped the light switches, awoke the hamsters, set the wheels in motion, dotted the Ts, crossed the Is, and triangulated the triangles (all in Jack's brilliant mind of course), to give the Glass Mat life.
What Makes the CutterPillar Glass Mat Different, Better, and Special
- The major, groundbreaking differentiator is its translucence (we think almost others are painted and opaque), which enables you to iron right on top of your light board! (From what we've seen, people never cease to be amazed by this)
- The translucence and compatibility with our light boards makes it a perfect fit with our mission of improving your crafting through innovation and increased light (wherever possible)
- Made of tempered glass (the same kind of glass used on stove tops)
Common Problems the Glass Mat Solves
Applique fusing:
- Easily line up pre-cut pieces, fabric, and patterns
EPP and any edge (it's not just for applique):
- Turn edges and iron with plenty of light- (right on top of the light board)
Mixed media (it's not just for applique):
- If working with glue, paint, ink, hot glue, modge podge, glitter, etc., and any of them spill, you can easily clean them right off with soap, water, and/or a razor blade
Other Benefits
- Reduces the area & stations you need to craft- you can put away the ironing board
- Comes with measurements on it to make it as precise and user-friendly as possible
Other Common Uses (It's Not Just for Applique)
- Can also be used to emboss, weed vinyl, and be an acrylic paint palate
You Might Be Thinking...
- I might not have the space for it
- It's just one more tool to store/take care of

What You Also Need to Know...
- It fits perfectly into the Glow Tote
- You can stack almost anything on it (extremely strong)
- Can be used with or without the light board
- Takes up almost zero storage space
- Very nominal cost
- It's a time-saver
- It's a crafting step-saver
