August has a way of sneaking up on us. Summer vacations are winding down, school is starting, and somehow the holiday season is already peeking around the corner.

If you're anything like us, you probably have a list of quilt projects that's… well… let's just say ambitious. 😅

That's exactly why this month's CutterPillar Quilting Challenge is all about Small Projects!

Sometimes the quickest projects bring the biggest smiles.

Not every quilting adventure has to end with a king-size quilt.

Small Doesn't Mean Simple

Don't let the size fool you.

Small projects are a wonderful place to experiment with:

• Foundation Paper Piecing
• Appliqué
• Free Motion Quilting
• Embroidery
• Decorative Stitching
• Bold Color Combinations
• New Rulers or Templates

Think of them as your quilting playground.

Bust That Stash!

You know those scraps that are too pretty to throw away but too small for a quilt?

This is their moment.

Dig into your scrap bins, jelly roll leftovers, charm packs, and favorite fat quarters. You might be surprised by what you can create with pieces you already have.

Bonus points if your project helps free up enough space to buy more fabric… we're pretty sure that's how quilting math works. 😉

Don't Forget Your Favorite Tools

Small projects often require precision, making them the perfect opportunity to put your favorite quilting tools to work.

A bright light board can help with tracing appliqué pieces, transferring embroidery designs, or foundation paper piecing. A sharp rotary cutter and accurate cutting mat make quick work of those tiny pieces so you can spend more time sewing and less time recutting.

When the little details matter, having the right tools makes all the difference.
