Who Is Corey?
Corey is the Chief Quilter at Linda's Electric Quilters in McKinney, Texas, where he runs the shop's "Quilted by Corey" machine quilting service. With years of hands-on experience quilting everything from cozy bed quilts to delicate wall hangings, Corey has developed a real feel for how batting choice changes a finished piece, and he's joining The Handmade Collective to share that knowledge.
What's Between the Layers?
Batting is the layer sandwiched between your quilt top and backing, and it does more work than people give it credit for. Cotton, polyester, wool, bamboo, blends, and specialty battings each behave differently: some add loft and warmth, some keep a quilt lightweight and drapey, some shrink slightly for that cozy crinkled look, and some hold up better across long quilting distances. Choosing the right one changes the whole personality of the finished quilt.
