Maker Minute: Alex Sorensen of My Sew Bliss
Hi Friends, I am Alex Sorensen of My Sew Bliss. I created My Sew Bliss as a Youtube channel over 14 years ago and it has evolved over the years to be a place of inspiration and learning for other creatives or those looking to get started on the journey. I like to say I sew all the things, I don't just sew one type of item. From quilts, to clothing for myself, children's clothing, swimwear, bags, home decor and more I truly love to experiment in my sewing.
I never know what type of project I will be working on but I always make sure my tools are multifaceted and can work with more than just one type of project. Last week I released my first quilt pattern, The Muse, and the Flip and Fold cutting mat was essential in being able to create the amazing samples for it while also being a busy mom. I was able to easily move the mat around my house to get the pieces cut out. I could keep the mat compact, at 11" x 17", when I was cutting at my kitchen table or I could make the mat long and skinny, at 17" x 48" on my kitchen counters. When it was time to trim the edge of the quilt I was able to use the full size of the mat, at 36" x 48" for less struggle and greater cutting space.
