Garment sewing has a way of making people feel like they did something wrong when really, the pattern just wasn't drafted for their body. Brandy Tsonetokoy-Burns built her whole teaching style around fixing that mindset, and she's bringing it to The Handmade Collective this September.

Who Is Brandy?

Brandy is the maker behind 100 Proof Stitching, based in Oklahoma City. What started as quilting grew into a love for everything stitched: garment sewing and cloning her favorite wardrobe pieces, bag making, foundation paper piecing, English paper piecing, appliqué, cross-stitch, and embroidery.

She's an American Sewing Guild member who teaches with a "use what you have and make it fit YOU" approach, breaking garment sewing down into frustration-free steps instead of rigid rules. When she's not at her machine, you'll find her creating handmade gifts, beading, or working alongside her husband on 3D-printed sewing tools for their community.

What Is "Clone Your Favorite Piece" Sewing?

Instead of starting from a commercial pattern that may or may not fit, Brandy's approach starts with a garment you already own and love. You take it apart (or trace it) to build a pattern from something you know already fits and flatters you, then adjust from there. It's a practical shortcut around a lot of the guesswork that makes garment sewing intimidating for beginners.
