Maker Minute - Meet Annie!

Hi, I’m Annie - the co-creator of QuiltPop, a free app for quilters who love foundation paper piecing (FPP) as much as I do. QuiltPop was born out of the joy (and occasional frustration) of quilt design - it lets you dream up, customize, and print your own FPP blocks right at home.

Resize, rotate, recolor, and remix to your heart’s content - no special software required, just your imagination and a printer.

Foundation paper piecing can feel intimidating at first, but once you get the rhythm, it’s incredibly rewarding - a mix of precision and surprise that keeps you hooked.

I wanted to create a tool that made that process easier, faster, and more fun - so quilters could spend less time wrestling with templates and more time doing what they love: creating.

I started quilting more than ten years ago, soon after my oldest son was born. Like many makers, I learned through trial, error, and an endless stream of curiosity.

One of my favorite Cutterpillar Tools are the Ultra Lightboard, their Tempered Glass Matt and the Magnets, since all help me with the precision I need when cutting and also, when you work with many patterns and colors, light and precision are your best friends.

My background is in art and fashion design - I spent years in New York’s fashion industry as a women’s sweater designer - so working with color, pattern, and texture has always felt like home to me.

Eventually, I made a big leap - from the world of fashion to the world of nursing. Today, I work with children, and I absolutely love what I do.

But even in the midst of that meaningful work, I’ve always needed a creative outlet - a space where I can recharge, explore, and play. Quilting became that space for me, and it’s what ultimately inspired QuiltPop.
