Tying Up Life’s Loose Ends - One Stitch at a Time

What if love didn’t have to stop when someone’s gone?
Sometimes, it’s not just yarn and thread we find tucked away - it’s memory. A scarf still on the needles. A quilt top, folded but unfinished. A baby blanket waiting for tiny hands. These aren’t just projects. They’re promises left mid-sentence.
That’s where Loose Ends comes in.
Started by two longtime friends and knitters, Masey Kaplan and Jennifer Simonic, Loose Ends is a nonprofit with a powerful mission - a global network of generous, skilled volunteers who quietly pick up where someone else left off. When a crafter passes away or becomes too ill to finish a project, Loose Ends helps make sure the love stitched into every row still reaches its intended home.
Since launching in 2022, more than 33,000 volunteers across 70+ countries have stepped up to complete over 4,000 projects - each one filled with memory, meaning, and the kind of kindness that can’t be measured.
More Than Just Yarn
We’ve seen shawls returned to daughters who thought they’d never feel their mother’s hands again. Baby blankets wrapped around newborns by someone they’d never meet - but who loved them just the same. These pieces aren’t perfect, but they’re powerful. They carry their hearts.
Want to Get Involved?
Whether you’re a knitter, quilter, or someone who simply believes in meaningful gestures, Loose Ends welcomes you. You can volunteer to finish a project, share their story, or reach out for help completing something left behind.
